Mr. & Mystery: Did ‘CSI: NY’ Star Wed GH’s Vanessa Marcil?
Vanessa Marcil… Giovinazzo?
That mouthful of a (married?) moniker caught viewers of this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards off guard, yet was in keeping with how the ‘General Hospital‘ superstar (she returns to the role of Brenda in August) adopts a secretive approach to her personal life.
After all, this is the brunette beauty who three years ago let me announce her engagement… yet would not go so far as to specify whom she would make her groom. The smart money was on director Ben Younger being her prospective husband, though that marriage never came to be… well, as far as anyone knows.
That ‘CSI: NY‘ star Carmine Giovinazzo was able to make Marcil his bride, even on the QT, is a considerable coup. (The two first dated back in the late 1990s.) Yet a source tells me that despite Marcil’s surprising Emmy-night billing, the couple might not have actually exchanged vows – though they do plan to.
“Vanessa keeps her private life private” is all the actress’ rep will say on the matter.
Marcil herself has never been shy about her lack of want to one day become someone’s bride – “in the government’s eyes, anyway,” she once told me.
“I believe in commitment, but I have never been the girl who had that dream of ‘my wedding day,’” she shared during my Soaps In Depth days. “I had so many weddings on ‘GH’ that to me it all sounds like work!”
Interestingly, Marcil’s maybe-marriage to Giovinazzo came to light the very same week that we learned of Brian Austin Green secretly tying the knot with longtime love Megan Fox (’Transformers’), in Hawaii. Should I need to connect the dots for anyone, Marcil and Green met on the set of ‘Beverly Hills, 90210‘ and share a son – Kassius, now 8 – though never were man and wife.
