'Grey's Anatomy's' Patrick Dempsey gets stuck up

McDreamy is going McFunny.

Patrick Dempsey has signed on to star in a heist comedy written by "The Hangover" team, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Lucky Number Slevin" helmer Paul McGuigan will direct.

In the film, Dempsey will play a man who gets caught in the middle of two different stick ups at the same bank. Besides that little pickle, he's also in secretly in love with one of the bank tellers.

The robberies will be a new element for Dempsey, who's appeared in a number of romantic comedies including "Can't Buy Me Love," "Enchanted" and "Made of Honor." He also stars in the upcoming ensemble romantic comedy "Valentine's Day," in theaters on Feb. 12.

Patrick Dempsey Wanted for Enchanted 2

It looks like the sequel to Disney’s Enchanted has gotten a big green light, and the project is well under way with Anne Fletcher (The Proposal) set to direct and Jessie Nelson (Stepmom) to write the screenplay. Director Kevin Lima who directed the first movie will be stepping out for this round.

The big question, of course, is whether they’ll manage to land Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams again, a task that may prove difficult with Dempsey’s schedule at Grey’s and Adams’ recent rise to stardom. Susan Sarandon and James Marsden are also wanted back.

Hopefully all actors will manage to make it work. A sequel to Enchanted without Dempsey or Adams wouldn’t feel right.

There’s no release date planned as yet, as they’re still in the early stages of pre-production, but hopefully there will be some good news soon regarding the casting.

McDreamy aka Patrick Dempsey Cast in TOM’S DAD

The upcoming film “Tom’s Dad” now has a director and star actor attached to the project after Lasse Hallstrom and Patrick Dempsey came on board this week. Hallstrom last directed the film “Dear John” while Dempsey is one of the stars of TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The project is being produced by Point Blank Prods. and Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil and is a coming of age tale that was penned by New York playwright Marty Casella. The film will be set in Las Vegas in 1962 and follow the life of a successful character actor and vaudevillian nightclub performer as he struggles to keep up with the changing comedy styles.

In addition to “Dear John,” Hallstrom has directed such films as “The Hoax,” “Casanova,” and “Chocolat.” While Dempsey is well known for his role on the small screen, he has recently appeared in “Enchanted,” “Made of Honor,” and “Valentine’s Day” on the big screen.
